Who is Rubén Portela?

Ruben has advised governments -including in the United Arab Emirates-  on their approach to digital assets and has facilitated partnerships between emerging projects and major institutions such as 21Shares.

Wise3 Ventures, the fund he leads, is a Web3-native VC focused on early-stage investments in blockchain, AI, and frontier technologies. Under his leadership, Wise3 has built a global network of influential builders and has supported high-potential founders by providing not only capital, but also strategic connections and access to new markets.

Beyond Wise3, Rubén plays an active role as an advisor or team member in some of the most innovative Web3 infrastructure projects. These include Minima, a Layer 1 focused on DePIN, and ChainGPT, one of the largest AI ecosystems in Web3. What is your vision for the future of robotics, automation, and the decentralized machine economy?‍

I envision a future where robotics and automation blend seamlessly with decentralized technologies, empowering not only industries but individuals and communities globally. The decentralized machine economy will democratize access, ownership, and innovation, eliminating the barriers and inefficiencies inherent to centralized models. The transparent, collaborative ethos of Web3 will unleash unprecedented economic and social value, transforming entire industries, from manufacturing to agriculture, and creating remarkable efficiencies alongside opportunities we can only begin to imagine today.

What drew you to the XMAQUINA DAO?

XMAQUINA resonates with my belief that revolutionary ideas are born from bold visionaries who dare to reshape entire industries. Their ambitious goal of bringing robotics, automation, and AI into the crypto space and making it accessible to everyone aligns perfectly with my journey at Wise3 Ventures and my passion for supporting groundbreaking ventures.

I’m especially inspired by their clear mission, innovative team, and bold commitment to democratizing robotics through a decentralized model that empowers the community, allowing people worldwide to co-create, co-govern, and share ownership in the new machine economy.

In your view, what opportunities or challenges is XMAQUINA best positioned to tackle?

XMAQUINA has rich opportunities ahead, as well as challenges, and its unique approach positions it ideally to lead the transformation. 

The key opportunity I see is XMAQUINA’s potential to build frameworks that seamlessly integrate industrial and everyday automation into decentralized networks, bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3. This will foster a more open, transparent, and efficient economic layer.

Regarding challenges, the decentralized machine economy remains nascent and rapidly evolving, dealing with complex regulatory landscapes and adoption barriers. However, XMAQUINA has a notable advantage: strategic foresight, deep technical expertise, and the positioning to effectively navigate these complexities.
