Unitree became the latest robotics company to go public in August, giving investors another public benchmark for valuing the sector. As more robotics companies mature outside private funding, public markets are beginning to play a larger role in how the industry is financed and valued.
The private market remains just as active. XPENG Robotics raised more than $900 million, new companies continued emerging from stealth, and established industrial groups including LG expanded their investment in humanoid robotics and Physical AI.
August showed an industry developing at both ends of the capital cycle.
1. Unitree Reaches the Public Markets
Unitree Robotics made its Shanghai debut in August after pricing its IPO at 150.80 yuan per share, valuing the company at approximately $9 billion before trading began. The offering raised roughly $900 million and made Unitree the first humanoid robot manufacturer listed on a mainland Chinese exchange.
Demand was substantial. Nearly 9.8 million retail accounts competed for approximately 9.7 million shares in the online allocation, while strategic investors included DeepSeek, Tencent and several state backed institutions. Unitree opened at 1,100 yuan per share, 629 percent above its IPO price, before closing its first session at 845 yuan, a gain of approximately 460 percent.
The listing gives public market investors direct exposure to one of China’s largest humanoid manufacturers while establishing a new valuation reference for private robotics companies preparing for future public offerings. Unitree plans to use the proceeds for robot hardware and software development, new products and manufacturing capacity.
2. The World Humanoid Robot Games Return to Beijing
The second World Humanoid Robot Games brought 2,056 robots from 666 teams and 16 countries to Beijing, with 51 events spanning athletics, martial arts, dexterous manipulation and real world tasks including industrial work and emergency response.
AGIBOT finished first in both the gold medal and overall medal tables, winning 18 gold, 16 silver and 12 bronze medals. Its entries included the G2, A3 and X2 platforms as well as OmniHand, with the company noting that the robots competing were existing production or deployed systems rather than machines developed specifically for the Games.
The Games also produced new performance benchmarks. Tiangong Ultra completed the 100 metre sprint in 8.86 seconds during the competition before subsequently recording 8.64 seconds.
3. Figure Launches Index
Figure launched Index after four months in stealth, opening a global network designed to collect real world human activity for training general purpose robots.
The scale is already substantial. Figure says Index has accumulated more than 16 million video uploads across 108 countries, with 264,000 app downloads and more than 44,000 weekly active users. The network is currently processing approximately 30 minutes of new video every second.
Index addresses a problem specific to Physical AI. Unlike language models, humanoid systems cannot rely primarily on information already available online. They require large volumes of physical interaction data covering different homes, workplaces, objects and methods of completing everyday tasks. Figure is building Index as its proprietary pipeline for collecting that data at global scale.
4. XMAQUINA Approves an Allocation Into ATOMS
XMAQUINA governance approved Proposal BOT 14 with more than 94 percent support, authorizing the DAO to proceed with a strategic allocation into ATOMS.
Founded by Uber co founder Travis Kalanick, ATOMS is building specialized automation and robotics systems for large physical industries. The company raised $1.7 billion earlier this year as it expands across robotics, industrial AI and automation.
The allocation follows the DAO’s July investment in Gecko Robotics and continues XMAQUINA’s expansion across humanoid robotics and the enabling infrastructure surrounding Physical AI.
5. XPENG Robotics Raises More Than $900 Million
XPENG’s robotics business raised more than $900 million at a post money valuation above $6.3 billion, representing the largest single private financing recorded in China’s embodied AI sector to date.
IDG Capital led the round, with participation from Gaorong Ventures and strategic support from Tencent and Alibaba. XPENG retains its vertically integrated approach to robotics, developing the physical architecture, actuation, AI and control systems behind its next generation IRON humanoid internally.
The new capital will support mass production of IRON, continued development of XPENG’s Physical AI models and international commercialization.
6. LG Expands Its Robotics Partnership With NVIDIA
LG and NVIDIA signed an agreement in August to develop a next generation bipedal humanoid, with a public unveiling planned for the first quarter of 2027.
The robot will use NVIDIA’s Jetson Thor platform for onboard compute and Isaac GR00T as its humanoid foundation model. LG is supplying key hardware through its existing group companies, including actuators from LG Electronics, sensors from LG Innotek and batteries from LG Energy Solution.
LG and NVIDIA are also working on infrastructure for collecting, generating, training and validating Physical AI data.
The program brings together NVIDIA’s robotics models and compute with an industrial group that already has internal capabilities across batteries, sensors, actuators, manufacturing and electronics.
7. Nucleus Emerges From Stealth
Nucleus came out of stealth with a different approach to industrial humanoid deployment.
The German company says it deployed supervised humanoids inside an operating factory in less than 90 days. Rather than waiting for full autonomy, Nucleus uses teleoperation and human supervision to put existing robot hardware to work while collecting data from the tasks being performed. The customer has not been publicly identified, and details including autonomy rates and uptime have not been disclosed.
Its team includes engineers with backgrounds at 1X, NEURA, Agile Robots, CERN and ESA. Nucleus is also not developing its own humanoid body. Its early deployments use Unitree G1 hardware, with Nucleus building the software, integration systems and custom end effectors required for individual industrial environments.
8. Alloy Robotics Raises A$11.5 Million
Sydney based Alloy Robotics raised A$11.5 million in a seed round led by Square Peg, with Blackbird, Airtree and Skip Capital among the returning investors. The financing brings total capital raised to more than A$16 million little more than a year after the company was founded.
Alloy is building infrastructure for a problem that becomes increasingly important as robot fleets expand. A single deployment can generate logs, telemetry, video, sensor readings and engineering discussions across multiple systems. Alloy brings that information together so engineering teams can investigate failures and retain what was learned from previous incidents.
